In 1920, Don Salim Sacal Costo arrived in Mexico from Damascus, Syria. Soon after, he partnered with fellow countryman Naim Zury to found the Casa Salim bakery, located at 190 Mérida Street in the Roma neighborhood. From its earliest days, Casa Salim was committed to offering traditional Arabic products with the hallmark of kosher cuisine. In addition to bakery products, they also made artisanal sweets and preserves. Over time, the range expanded to include dairy products, pastries, and other specialty products.
In 1972, Sinaí was founded, a factory dedicated to the production of bread, pastries, cakes, sweets, and preserves, which were distributed in convenience stores. Years later, we opened our own chain of stores under the name "Tu amigo Pepe Sacal," offering a wide range of Sinaí products, as well as domestic and imported groceries.
With the expansion, branches were opened in Polanco and Chamizal. In the latter, "El horno de tu amigo Pepe Sacal" (Your Friend Pepe's Oven) was established, specializing in the production of Roscas (Roses) and Arabic bread, which continues to operate to this day.
In 1996, Grupo Panificador de Medio Oriente SA de CV was established, integrating the bakery, factory, and self-service store under the Sinaí brand. Since then, we have maintained our firm commitment to offering quality, service, and tradition in every product.
